Thus began a decade-long string of tragedies and murders that rocked the quiet community of Dryden and triggered talk of a so-called "curse." The serialized documentary "Village of the Damned" explores what Investigation Discovery labels "important and disturbing questions concerning how innocent people become ensnared by evil, and how a tight-knit community survives when senseless crime pushes it past the breaking point." Each episode covers one chapter from the era, beginning with the execution of the Harris family and including the murders of Dryden football coach Steve Starr and school cheerleaders Sarah Hajney and Jennifer Bolduc.
