Ratings & Reviews
The Reelgood Score is a comprehensive weighted index designed to evaluate movie & TV quality, deriving its value from a blend of Reelgood user engagement, external ratings metrics expressed through content popularity, and user feedback, including ratings such as "loved," "liked," and "disliked." The score is presented on a scale from 1 to 100, where 100 signifies content that is highly esteemed and positively rated within the community.
Season 1 received mixed reviews, praised for its cast, cinematography, and unsettling story but criticized for heavy-handed narrative and lack of subtlety. Season 2 is highly praised for its creepiness, performances, especially Luke James, and standout moments, though some found the messaging on generational trauma too overt.
Season 1: Perhaps the most hideous and vile scene in a film, beyond the pale, ever in mainstream horror. However, cast is terrific, story unsettling if not "scary" in a horror sense, and music and cinematography are stunning, with every shot and transition crafted with intention. Narrative can be heavy-handed and lacks subtlety, but THEM achieves what Jordan Peele's films aspire to. Hopefully, unlike Peele's work, this show improves with each season instead of declining.Unique horror perspectives are emerging, and while the narrative could be more subtle, it earns a strong like instead of love.Season 2: In some ways better, in others worse. Overall a strong like. Despite more heavy-handed messaging on "generational trauma," cast and cinematography excel again. Not scary, but includes a standout "oh shit, no way!" moment which redeems the season. I'm ready for a third season, hopefully without a three-year wait.
OMG!!! I liked season 1 but season 2 is off the chain!!! So so creepy and tripped out! I waited so long for season 2…I hope we only wait a year for season 3 because I will definitely be looking forward to see what’s next!!!Season 1: ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Season 2: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Phenomenal performances make this second entry in the series a welcomed ride. The leads are great, especially Luke James in a breakout role.
