After a job goes wrong for them Syd and Mo flee to the refuge of the Huthwaites' pub with the police in hot pursuit. Unfortunately, Hedley's method of buying time is to tell the officers that he and his pregnant wife are being held hostage by dangerous, armed criminals and soon a full-blown siege develops.
