TBD Someone helps Gretchen to solve a math problem that has even the teacher baffled, but she doesn't know who her mathematical soulmate is! So she writes up another problem on the blackboard as bait to discover who her secret helper is. The Recess Gang have a spy in their midst. New pupil James Stone, whom they have befriended, is faithfully reporting all their secrets and strategies to Superintendent Skinner. The friends get suspicious when things start going wrong for them and decide to give Stone a taste of his own medicine.
TBD TJ wants to go to see the first showing of a film based on his favourite cartoon character Senor Fusion and all the children sign a petition asking their teachers to take them to the cinema on a school trip, because it will be an educational experience. However, Principal Prickly angrily refuses, saying that the Board of Education would have his head! But then TJ points out that the Principal is a fan himself - he has a stack of Fusion comics hidden under his golfing magazines... Gus gets upset by a fortune-telling machine.
TBD King Bob becomes obsessed with getting his revenge on TJ for a trick that he played on him. He is jealous of TJ's popularity and wants to re-establish himself as the top prankster at Third Street School. However, Gus seems always to be the accidental victim of all his tricks, which are meant for TJ. When the other children find out how determined King Bob is, they beg TJ to fall for one of his tricks and put an end to the folly. Gus loses his glasses and suddenly finds that he has gained newfound street cred as a boy named "Guy".
TBD The friends learn from an outsider that Gus is an excellent dodgeball player, known at his old school as 'El Diablo'! However, Gus has sworn to give up dodgeball after hitting a little child with a ball at his old school and he refuses to be on the team. Gretchen gets a letter from NASA, inviting her to take part in their next space shuttle mission. TJ and the others decide to help her out with training for the big event, but the activites that they have devised to simulate various conditions in Space end up making her feel ill!
TBD TJ and his friends are deemed criminals because of an accident involving a statue of the school's namesake, which happens while they're cleaning the playground. Only the grandson of the school's namesake can save them. King Bob discovers the rule book belonging to the old King, Morty, whose ancient rules he reinstates after Vince and Lawson have an argument about a football landing in a skip. But the old rules cause trouble and TJ has to step up and point out to King Bob out that they just aren't practical any longer.
TBD Spinelli borrows Vince's lucky marble to pass a maths test on the day that Vince really needs it. Digger Dave storms out of the hole and puts on casual clothing - he's quit! Now the friends have got to think of ways to get them back together and return Third Street School to normality.
The Candidates / This Brain for Hire Vince and Gretchen run against each other for class president. Gretchen does her best to make the other children share her vision of organised leadership while Vince goes round kissing their pets... Gretchen does other people's homework to get the money for a new bike, in the belief that her customers will actually read through it. However when the time comes for a big test based on the homework, everybody fails because they haven't even looked at it. It is now time for Gretchen to step in and put things right.
Chez Vince / Tucked in Mikey Vince, appalled by the food in the canteen, tells the lunch ladies than he could do a better job. They take him up on the offer, and to everyone's surprise he starts making great food. A great chef discovers him, but the gang want him to stay, so they make plans to ruin his soufflé. Mikey wins a prize for a poem and is offered a medal, but first he needs to get organized. Menlo shows him how, but Mikey's organization starts to interfere with his poetry. He rips up his new work before the audience and then makes up a great poem.
Lawson and His Crew King Bob hands out medals to the gang as they have stopped the school from making them wear uniforms. Lawson gets jealous, and starts getting together a new crew. The gang are busy discussing what the playground would be like without them when they get told that the second and third graders have gone to war. They go to stop it only to find that Lawson's crew have already done so. Lawson's crew then reverse the ban on chocolate milk. The gang look for something else they could do, and are glad that they have good friends.
Mikey's Pants / Here Comes Mr Perfect Mikey's pants split when he is helping out lifting a bench, but will the friends be able to help him to avoid Miss Finster and her wicked needle? A new kid called Jared Smith comes to Third Street School and the gang get rather a shock when they discover that he is better than them at all the activities that they think they're good at! They're outraged and try to stop him being the best at everything, but all to no avail; and no-one is surprised when a car is sent for him and he is whisked away to give the President some advice...
Lost Leader / League of Randals TJ tells the gang that he is going to quit as their leader after he fails to get their lucky bat back off the Ashleys and his plans fail. The gang want him to stay, and devise a plan to make TJ feel better about himself. Randall is ticked off by Miss Finster for not properly snooping on misbehaving kids; she does not give him biscuits. So he recruits the Ashleys' little brothers, the Tylers, to snoop on the Ashleys, and takes all the biscuits for himself. His plans backfire as the Tylers snitch on him.
The Coolest Heatwave Ever / Mundy, Mundy There is a heatwave and even the classroom fan packs up. The gang spends recess trying to find ways of getting cool, and they start to look for the school's outside back-up water valve. Gus tells a story about skiing and as he does, trips over the back-up water valve. They turn on the sprinklers. Conrad Mundy is busy bullying the kids in the playground when he stops a ball from hitting a kindergarten kid. Everyone is praising him, but he wants to keep his bad reputation. The gang know he is bad, and they expose him for what he is.
Don't Ask Me / The Secret Life of Grotke Guru Kid asks Spinelli to mind his blanket while he's away, and she starts to dish out advice to the kids. Finding she is good at giving advice, she swaps roles with Guru Kid and gets a queue of kids with problems to sort out. Spinelli sparks lots of fights and Guru Kid steps in to calm it down. During class one day, Miss Grotke takes a mysterious phone call. She has a strange box and handcuffs. The gang think she must be a spy, and start to track her moves. They follow her and find that she is in fact a magician.
Beyond a Reasonable Scout / The Army / Navy Game Gus and Mikey decide to join the Woodchuck Scouts after they get stuck on the teeter totter and are rescued by scout Phil. Phil is not keen on them joining the scouts because he wants to be the only boy in the school with a uniform. Fillmore tries to steal Cornchip Girl's lunch and sparks a playground fight with Gus. Gus and Cornchip Girl are taken to be disciplined; their fathers turn up. They happen to be old rivals from military school. Gus and Cornchip are not allowed to see each other again but find a way of staying friends.
The C Note / Big Ol' Mikey TJ finds a hundred dollar bill and the gang start thinking of ways to spend it, but TJ wants to return the money to its rightful owner. Randall tries to get the money by pretending that it belonged to his parents. Eventually they trace the owner and get rewarded for their honesty. Gretchen has a machine that predicts that Mikey is going to grow to fifty feet tall. He doesn't like the idea because he is afraid he will hurt someone. After a lot of worrying, he finds that a compass round his neck is to blame for the result.
All the Principal's Men / No Strings Attached All the balls are removed from the playground and the kids can no longer pay ball games. The gang gets together to try and find out who ordered their removal, and the kids accuse the Principal, the School Board, the Mayor and the President in turn. Eventually, Menlo confesses that he had filled in a form wrongly. The Ashleys give Spinelli some tickets to a wrestling match, but the gang is suspicious that the tickets are not real. They get into the Ashleys' club house and find that they are, but get locked in by mistake.
Schoolworld / Bachelor Gus After having a whine about losing recess, Spinelli accidentally breaks the school clock, which Prickly replaces with a complicated contraption called SAL 3000, which then has a malfunction and begins to take over the school, upsetting everyone from King Bob to the Diggers. He then fires Principal Prickly and the rest of the staff, and takes over all teaching functions. So the students decide to turn off his life support systems. Gus thinks that his parents are moving again, so he decides to move himself - into Old Rusty at school!
Terrifying Tales of Recess Butch, disguised in a Principal Prickly mask, gives a Halloween address to the children at Third Street. He then reveals himself as Butch, and tells three terrifying tales. In Children of the Cornchip, Cornchip Girl turns into a werewolf. In When Bikes Attack, Mikey's bike, Pegagsus comes alive and fights the kids; and in Night of the Living Finsters, Finsters emerge from the dead and fight the kids. Butch shows a Finsters mask that he is wearing, and the kids are left wondering if it was all for real.
The Principals of Golf / Kurst the Not so Bad Vince is paired up with Principal Prickly in a game of golf with another school. Vince proves to be good at golf and Prickly arranges lots of practices, but the kids start calling Vince the Principal's Pet. Vince gets upset and nearly doesn't show up for the game. But he does, because he loves to win, and they win the game. Mikey and Kurst strike up a friendship over their love of shillelaly sundaes, but Mikey's friends are not happy, as Kurst is not popular. The friendship is doomed when Kurst steals the cobbler from the canteen.
Recess is Cancelled / Tattletale Heart The President uses Third Street School as a pilot in an experiment designed to improve test scores; by cancelling recess! But the children become demoralized and test scores sink to their lowest ever levels. The Secretary for Schools then has to step in and try to reverse the effects of the experiment. When a food fight breaks out in the school over lunch, Miss Finster is not amused. She cancels recess and makes the children clear up the mess. Then she interrogates the friends, trying to find out who started the trouble.
Prickly is Leaving / Randall's Friends A middle school principal has been fired and Prickly has been chosen to replace him. Prickly is overjoyed, but not as much as the students, who are all looking forward to a rest from him. Finster is not happy, for she and Prickly used to be in love with each other. His replacement Dr Slicer, however, turns out to be even harder to deal with and the children rack their brains to think of a way to stop Prickly from leaving! Randall Weems has been telling his father dreadful fibs about his school friends.
Fort Tender / Germ Warfare The friends, finding themselves bored in the playground, decide to build a fort. They call it Fort Tender. The next day they go to it, only to find that Lawson and his friends have taken it over. They get it back with a trick, but then get bored and offer to fight Lawson for it. The friends are looking at germs with a school microscope. Gus gets paranoid when he is told that bacteria and germs are the same thing, and then Gretchen gets a cold. He tries to clear up the playground and falls out with Mikey, who speaks out for germs.
More Like Gretchen / Prince Randall Spinelli's mom takes her and Gretchen to a new cosmetic museum. Later Gretchen has tea with Spinelli's parents, who think she is an amazing kid and want Spinelli to be more like her. Spinelli gets jealous, and Gretchen is upset. Spinelli realizes that her parents love her even though she isn't like Gretchen. Randall gets told off by King Bob, so he goes snooping and finds a photograph to blackmail King Bob with. King Bob tells the kids in the playground to show Randall respect. The gang have a plan to make King Bob cool again.
