Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation
Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation is an American live-action television series produced by Saban Entertainment, which ran on the Fox Kids network from 1997 to 1998. The short-lived series was based loosely from Mirage Studios' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. As of September 16, 2011, the series is currently distributed by Saban Brands and MarVista Entertainment, as Saban has recently regained the rights to the show from Disney. The series introduced many new elements to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles saga, including a female mutant turtle called Venus de Milo and new central antagonists, an army of humanoid dragons known as "The Rank" led by the vicious Dragonlord. The series was touted as a continuation of the 1987 TV series, but by the period of time it aired it turned apparent that this was not the case. Instead, the series apparently followed the continuity of the live-action films. The Turtles lived in the same abandoned train station featured in the second and third films, and Splinter's ear is slashed as it was in the original film. However, the films and the series display differing styles, Shredder being alive, and the absence of April O'Neil and Casey Jones. In a departure from other TMNT continuities, Leonardo states in the second episode that the Turtles are not blood-related, while other media either explicitly states that the Turtles are biological siblings or avoids the issue altogether.

East Meets West (1) (Synopsis credited to Ninja Turtles.com) Seeking a means to gain an advantage over the Turtles, the Dragon Lord sends Wick and some Rank Dragons out into the city to gather the rare ingredients needed to make the ancient Serum of Invincibility. Once ingested by the Rank, the now-invincible warriors are sure to triumph over the TMNT... Using his ""turtlefied"" eye-in-the-sky satellite, Donatello traces a group of Dragons into Chinatown. Splinter believes that the Turtles should be defensive rather than offensive, so the TMNT merely watch the actions of their enemies rather than engaging them in battle. In doing this, the sensei hopes to spot a weakness in the powerful foes. Raphael, however, disagrees and sets out by himself to Chinatown in order to kick Wick and Dragon butt... but instead ends up having to be rescued by his friends. Meanwhile, the Dragon Lord was only able to gather enough ingredients to make Serum for six warriors --- far short of his goal to turn all of his minions

The Turtles, meanwhile, having analyzed a sample of the serum taken from the previous battle with the Rank, are righteously angered when they discover that the substance is composed of powdered rhino horn, tiger bone and turtle shell! With both sides fired up, the next confrontation at the Zoo is long and furious, a true-life death struggle. As the battle progresses, the TMNT discover that the serum is but a placebo, having no real invincibility power other than to make the user think that he is invulnerable and thus overcome his fears. With this knowledge, the Turtles hand the Dragon Lord and his minions a most crippling defeat! Also, the simmering d

After a brief introductory skirmish with Bonesteel and his overcoat's seemingly endless arsenal of weaponry, the Turtles manage to escape with the young hawksbill. Bonesteel, however, is far from beaten and vows to take up the hunt--- the hunt for Ninja Turtles! The TMNT are barely a few sewer blocks away when Bonesteel attacks anew. The fight is fast and furious as Bonesteel proves to be as much a physically powerful street brawler as he is adept at using bull whips, crossbows and steel net snares.
