Just a short hitchhike above the noise and neon of the Sunset Strip, Laurel Canyon was a rural oasis that drew young musicians. Love was free, hair was long, and doors were unlocked. They lived together, they took drugs together, formed bands, broke up those bands, and formed other bands. The rustic atmosphere brought out their talents and was the center for this community that clashed and collaborated to create a brand new sound. They perfected that sound at local clubs, and pretty soon the world took notice.
