Christina & Mark Apr 1, 2004 AWS 870 - Christina and Mark (San Diego, CA) When Christina and Mark met in Germany they were in the eighth grade --two military kids looking for fun. Soon, these two were the cutest couple in the lunchroom but their overwhelming case of puppy love soon came to an end. When Christina's father was reassigned back to the U.S. the two youngsters bid a sad farewell... but somehow, over the next 16 years their fond memories of each other didn't fade. A chance email from an old classmate reconnected them and he vowed not to let her get away a second time. They fell in love all over again and now, those grade school sweethearts will exchange vows in San Diego.

JoAnn & John Apr 2, 2004 AWS 871 - JoAnn and John (Cupertino, CA) John, a Taiwanese American, was mesmerized by JoAnn's eyes when he first saw her at an Asian social group; but there was something about her that he couldn't figure out. When she revealed she was Japanese he blurted out "So that's what's different about you!" A year and several social events later, they started dating. With his growing love for her also came a love for her family-the single mom and grandparents who'd raised her. The death of JoAnn's grandmother was devastating; but when her grandfather's health started failing, the couple knew they could not deny him his dying wish-to see his only granddaughter get married. At the nursing home where he spent his final days, they held a tearful ceremony just for him. His passing gave JoAnn and John a new outlook on love and marriage. Surrounded by an Asian landscape and koto and shakuhachi musicians, JoAnn and John are joined as husband and wife.

Alexis and Roger hit it off at the Derby and continued their whirlwind romance at all the major horse races across the country. Now this attractive, young and energetic couple will be celebrating their love at the place where their story began with a Day at the Races!

Kimberley & Joel Apr 5, 2004 AWS 874 - Kimberley and Joel (Post and Snyder, TX) Neither Kimberly nor Joel had any intention of meeting someone that night - but when Kim started teasing Joel, he knew he was hooked. Once he got past her sassy attitude (which was all a front, anyway), they realized they were perfect for each other. But the Air Force had other plans for Joel, and whisked him away after only their third date. Kimberly and Joel were forced to continue their romance by correspondence, but it was the perfect way to get to know each other - by the time he came back, they knew they were meant to be together. Now they will have an 1880's era Wild West wedding set on a dude ranch in Texas with guns, spurs, boots, and some good barbecue.

Krista & Yazdan Apr 6, 2004 AWS 875 - Krista and Yazdan (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) They were just friends - or so they thought, until a completely unexpected kiss (in front of all their shocked friends) set off sparks. Krista & Yazdan realized the chemistry between them was too strong to be ignored. Now they will have a grand wedding in Grand Cayman, in a week filled with stingrays, submarines, swashbuckling pirates and fireworks, plus a kiss at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve!

Sokeng & Josh Apr 6, 2004 AWS 876 - Sokeng and Josh (Annapolis, MD) They met online because of a shared interest in running - and started a lengthy Internet Messaging friendship before finally meeting. Though there were sparks and Josh fell for her right away, Sokeng took longer to commit-- a year and a half before realizing she couldn't deny her true feelings. Now they will get married in her home state of Maryland but with a Cambodian flair. Through two different ceremonies, this couple will become husband and wife in every language.

Monique & David Apr 7, 2004 AWS 877 - Monique and David (Orlando, FL) When David first laid eyes on Monique she was dancing on a coffee table at a mutual friends college party. Her outgoing personality and carefree spirit sparked an instant attraction. After several months of getting to know each other they knew they couldn't let a summer break separate them-David invited Monique home with him, to spend the summer with him and his family on the island of Hawaii. Through 5 years, graduation and new careers, this couple is finally ready to take the biggest step in their relationship, and they'll do it amid the ice. It's a wedding in 8 degrees but in Florida! Vanessa & Scott Apr 7, 2004 AWS 878 - Vanessa and Scott (Key West, FL) Vanessa and Scott both grew up with a passion for the ocean. When these accomplished divers were set up by a mutual friend it opened up a world of love on land and under water. Two years into their relationship, they separated for 7 months after Scott decided he wasn't ready for marriage, but the couple kept diving together as friends. When past wounds healed, Scott found his way back into Vanessa's heart and they've been together ever since. This adventurous aquatic couple plans on introducing guests to the beauty of Key West with activities by land and by sea.

Joanie & Mike Apr 8, 2004 Joanie and Mike (Branson, MO) Joanie and Mike met as struggling actors in Florida. Although she was reluctant to enter a relationship on the heels of a breakup, Mike persisted and Joanie succumbed. Times were tough for performers, and they found themselves moving all over in search of work until they finally settled in Branson, MO. Though money was always tight, this creative, artistic and fun-loving couple managed to make it through - together! READ ALL ABOUT IT: "MOM'S ARTICLES SPUR ROMANCE FOR DAUGHTER AND FELLOW NEWSIE" They met through a newspaper - though it wasn't the personals! Katie's mom, Dixie writes a humorous column about family life for The Houston Sun, the same paper that employs Fred as a reporter/editor. Dixie's columns featured anecdotes about her daughter Katie, who she portrayed as adventurous, sensitive, well-grounded and a true music lover. After two years of reading about her, an intrigued Fred felt he imply must meet the fascinating Katie. He mustered the courage to ask Dixie for permission to contact her daughter. Katie resisted at first, but eventually let her mom play matchmaker. A fantastic first date led to a long distance courtship - and now nearly 18 months after they first met, this couple plans a gala '20's themed wedding in their hometown of Houston.

Wendy & Chris Apr 11, 2004 Episode 82: Wendy and Chris Location: Ona, FL (near St. Petersburg) When her husband died young, he asked his best friend Chris to watch over his widow, Wendy. The result was a close friendship. Five years later, they confessed their mutual love for each other, and sparks flew. Although she weighed almost 350 pounds, he fell in love with her personality, her mind and "the sparkle in her eye." Then when she decided to undergo a life-changing gastric bypass surgery, he stayed by her side for a month, taking time off work and sleeping on a cot in the hospital. Two years later and 165 pounds lighter, she credits him with helping her through the darkest times in her life, and he says she is more beautiful than ever. As if being the new kid in 7th grade wasn't hard enough, she was a tomboy with an island accent, but her new friend (and best friend to this day) Cindy helped her to fit in. She also managed to capture the attention of the, "cute, athletic kid," in their class: Paul. Renee and Paul became "boyfriend and girlfriend" that year and continued their relationship through the 8th grade, although Paul says, "at that age, you don't really 'date' - it was more like puppy love." Their schoolyard romance was cut off, however, when Renee's parents decided to move to Chicago at the end of her 8th grade year. 15 years later Renee never forgot about their middle school called Paul out of the blue - and found their connection was even more intense than ever, so they began a long distance relationship that is Now this adventurous, exciting, and adorable couple who believe their story embodies the universal dream of rediscovering first love will marry culminating in a beach-front ceremony in their home state of Florida.

They already had a strong phone relationship, but they wondered if their chemistry would work in-person... well, it was just as good face-to-face. They worked through the challenges of a long-distance relationship and many moves across the country to make it work. Tina found someone that would support her through her demanding career and Scott discovered the joys of being part of a big, loving family rich with multiple cultures. This athletic, adventurous and affectionate couple chose Valentine's day for their unique and festive wedding ceremony and are excited about a bilingual, multireligious event after which they will salsa dance the night away!!
