"The Zone of Interest" is visually and audibly haunting, focusing on the background of Auschwitz Commandant Rudolph Höss's life. Jonathan Glazer's direction and sound design are highly praised. The film is a profound meditation on evil but can be disturbing and underwhelming for some. It aims to depict the Holocaust's horror indirectly, though some felt it sought sympathy for the German family.
This movie is about what’s happening in the background. Visually, audibly, and even psychologically. Haunting and beautiful but not for everyone.
i believe the makers of this movies sole intention was to show how horrible the holocaust was without actually showing how horrible the holocaust was. While they mostly succeeded in doing this, I felt too much that they were also trying to get sympathy from the viewers for the German family.
