In a small island off the American coast, the Whateleys live in an old mill where a mysterious bloody being creates an atmosphere of horror. After her parents get killed by lightning, young Susannah is sent to New York by her aunt Agatha, who wants her to avoid the family curse. Years later Susannah, now married, persuades her husband to spend a holiday in the abandoned mill. Iowa this movie inabout 1972 at about 10 years of age and now, at 62 I still think about it alot. It was the first movie that scared me into the love of horror. Amazing casting including my 2 all time fans, Carol Lynley and Oliver Reed. Gig Young plays the lead and Carol plays his wife. They move to Abners childhood home, a dilapidated mill in Massachusetts. Oliver Reed plays Ethan, Abner cousin.Ethan is hot Susannah and makes it well known.Enter AuntAgatha who tries to keep him corralled. "She's scary". But there's something savage haunting the old mill. Someone that kills at every chance. Oliver's character is so reckless and sexy I was crazy for him( even before I liked boys). If you are attracted to classics(or not). This movie is amazing. I could write a book,lol.
