With a fantastic cast and an intense story, The Last of the Mohicans is a beautifully shot, action-packed epic. As usual, Daniel Day-Lewis is excellent, but Wes Studi's portrayal of Magua is so chilling that he truly steals the stage. The film blends themes of cultural strife and survival with the chaos of the French and Indian War.That said, the first 45 minutes are a little dull and don’t flow as smoothly as the captivating latter hour. Also, while it doesn't detract from the overall experience, the love story occasionally becomes a bit too dramatic. The cinematography is stunning, especially the landscapes. A well-made film that I'm glad I watched.
Not quite the action I expected, I remembered more epic I must say. In the end the movie is great, slow, but great.
