The movie is praised for its historical significance and emotional third act. Pesci's performance stands out, while DeNiro and Pacino are seen as less impressive. Some characters' side stories felt unengaging, and the actors' ages were noticeable in early scenes.
Good film throughout with great cinematography and acting, but the payoff could have been better.
Wow. A historical masterpiece. One of Scorcese’s best
At face value this movie is great, but I just can’t put it in the same category as Good Fellas, Casino or other mob legends.Although it makes up in pure heartbreak in the third act, I struggled to care about a lot of the side stories of various characters.Pesci is the real star here. DeNiro and Pacino were good but not on Pesci’s level.DeNiro was seriously not imposing to me whatsoever, which took a ton away from his character in my opinion.I think getting all these guys together on screen is a legendary feat, but some of these guys look so old even in the early sequences.
