"The Innkeepers" received mixed reviews. Some appreciated the acting and cinematography, noting it as a decent ghost story with a clear structure. However, others found it slow-paced with unnecessary scenes, lacking significant build-up until midway through.
Considering I usually don't like ghost stories, this one wasn't bad. I zoned out a few times, but I'll probably throw this on a few more times so no biggie. I didn't hate the blonde kid's acting, and everyone else's was pretty on-point too. Was super dark & hard to see sometimes, but the cinematography was good for a creepy ghost story.Edit: Watched it again 5/5/24. I gave it my undivided attention and I might've liked it more this time around. My favorite thing is that it has a start, a middle, and an end. No obvious loose ends to try to make a sequel down the road. Still loved it considering my usual preference in horror films.
Not bad, just verrrryyyyy slow. Nothing happens til the last 15 mins.
Honestly, I'd say this film was just ok. It was SUPER slow for a horror film and there just seemed to be a lot of random scenes that weren't necessary for the plot...like the "annoying barista" scene. I wanted a lot more build-up than it provided. I mean, nothing really noteworthy happened until about halfway in. But as far as the acting goes, it was decent.
