The movie "Sleepaway Camp" is noted for its campy horror and a shocking twist ending. Reviewers found the acting and line delivery amusingly poor, contributing to the film's humor. Some kills were seen as intentionally ridiculous. The ending was particularly surprising and memorable. Overall, it was enjoyed but likely only worth one viewing.
By todays standards, I'd say it's super campy (not a pun) and actually really funny, except for the end. It has a surprising twist that really got me, along with the final kill that made me raise an eyebrow and audibly say "whoa". The acting/line delivery isn't great, but that's one of the things that had me giggling all throughout. Even some of the kills were pretty funny, like they were *supposed* to be ridiculousI liked it overall, but I'll most likely watch it just the one time. I will say that I've never seen a slasher quite like this, and with the updated acting, sound, cinematography, etc. of today: I'd definitely watch it again
Camp horror flick with a wild ending. My favorite part was the chefs reaction to getting pushed into a big boiling pot of water.A young girls family is killed by a boating accident involving a summer camp counselor. She later attends the camp and murders start happening. We find out it was the girl the whole time and also she was a boy whose deranged adoptive mother decided to make her a girl.
