"Napoleon" received mixed reviews. Some praised its cinematography, music, and epic scale, recommending it for big-screen viewing. However, many criticized Joaquin Phoenix's performance as miscast and unconvincing. The film's historical inaccuracies and focus on Napoleon's personal life over his military prowess were also points of contention. Some found it dull and overly long, while others appreciated its visual style but felt the story and character portrayals fell short.
Dull, gray, pointless. Don't waste your time or money watching this. You might as well just read a Wikipedia summary of Napoleon's life (and a petulantly inaccurate one at that). If you're going to take creative liberties with the history, at least do something cool with it, and don't put a fucking gray filter over everything!I'm giving this one star for Joaquin's hilarious performance and one star for the two drummer boys eating shit.
I think it was a good enough! The problem is that based on who Napoleon was as a historical figure with all the drama and wars… it would be impossible to cover it all in one movie! Maybe a miniseries or a Trilogy could tell the story better!
Solid biopic with levity, though you can feel its length.
