The remake of "Lilo & Stitch" is praised for its execution of family themes, integration of sequel elements, and visual effects. However, it faces criticism for muted imagination, plot changes, and character dynamics that may disappoint purists. The CGI is noted to have more life than the live action.
Rating: 7.3/10 ⭐️ (★★★½ - Great)The Good:• The core narrative and themes of family and belonging are well-executed. • The film effectively integrates elements from the original film's sequels and TV shows. • The visual effects, soundtrack, and filming locations in Hawaii are commendable. The Not So Good:• Changes to the plot and character dynamics, such as Gantu's absence and Nani's altered guardianship, might disappoint purists. • The film's sense of imagination and stylistic quirks are slightly muted compared to the original animated version. The Verdict: A charming and largely successful remake that delivers on core themes of family and belonging. Recommended for fans willing to embrace a new interpretation and new audiences looking for a heartwarming sci-fi comedy-drama.
Is it bad that the CGI had more life than the live action had? Live action Lilo is a doll, and I love her. The original animation had heart. I feel like they defanged the story for this remake.
It was cute.
