Nic Cage delivers an incredible, Oscar-winning performance as a suicidal alcoholic. The film features dark, profound quotes and a somber yet jazzy score. However, some found the movie slow, boring, and depressing, with one review criticizing the soundtrack as the worst of all time.
Yawn. The movie is way too slow and boring.
Nic Cage plays Ben, an alcoholic who moves to Las Vegas to live out the rest of his life drowning in booze. There, he meets a prostitute, played by Elizabeth Shue, and the two form an unlikely bond. This movie earned our guy Nic his first Oscar and let me tell you what, he deserved it. He is absolutely incredible in this. It’s sickening how well Cage portrays a suicidal alcoholic. There’s a ton of hilarious, dark and profound quotes in this one. The absolute best Cage movie I’ve ever seen. The score is pretty incredible too, with somber but jazzy love tunes that will be queued up on my Spotify tomorrow morning.Movie Rating: 5/5Cage Rating: 5/5This is peak Cage. Dude won an Oscar for this. He’s quite literally insane in this movie. To prepare for this role he just got wasted a bunch, recorded his mannerisms and then let that loose on screen. Watch it.
