"Late Night with the Devil" has mixed reviews. Some praise its creative setting, aesthetics, and acting, particularly David Dastmalchian's performance. However, others criticize it for being boring, not scary enough, and having an unsatisfying payoff. The film is noted for its unique concept but is seen as a letdown for horror die-hards.
This just barely gets a "like". The setup was there for something terrific, but instead of sticking with the viewer's perception of things and creating something very similar to a really high quality Youtube ARG (Hornets, Local58, etc), they bounced around between views and told an ultimately uninteresting and dumb story. It really had so much potential and it should have start with never taking the viewer out of the portal through which they're watching (the broadcast).
Wonderful aesthetics, a captivating story full of interesting elements, one of the coolest horror films I've ever seen.
Kind of departs from the analog format a few times, but overall really great.
