The reviews highlight that "Glengarry Glen Ross" is a powerful film, especially resonant for those in sales, capturing the bleakness of their lives. It was initially avoided by some but turned out to be a mistake as it offers a master class in acting.
every single person I know in sales absolutely hates their lives.I can see why!
This film is like watching a masterclass in dialogue—sharp, quick, and some of the best dialogue since Billy Wilder. Additionally, the cast is an absolute dream team. The only drawback is it feels more like a really good TV special than a movie, since it's basically a filmed play. Not a deal breaker, but something to consider. The performances, though, are excellent. Alec Baldwin is the epitome of arrogance, and his killer monologue, which is equal parts harsh and hilarious, steals the show. In contrast, Lemmon presents an incredibly realistic depiction of failure that is both hard to watch but unforgettable. The remainder of the actors nail Mamet's writing, particularly Pacino, who has the best lines all the way throughout the film. The performances are the main attraction here; the movie's worth it just for that.
