Ratings & Reviews
The Reelgood Score is a comprehensive weighted index designed to evaluate movie & TV quality, deriving its value from a blend of Reelgood user engagement, external ratings metrics expressed through content popularity, and user feedback, including ratings such as "loved," "liked," and "disliked." The score is presented on a scale from 1 to 100, where 100 signifies content that is highly esteemed and positively rated within the community.
The movie is criticized for being dull with unremarkable characters and lacking tension until the final act. It's seen as a low-budget imitation of "Halloween," and there's confusion over how it inspired a successful franchise. The music and effects are noted as positive aspects.
How did this inspire the most widely-known slasher franchise? This is one of the dullest movies I have ever seen. The music and effects are good, but the film just drags on and on with dull characters in a dull location saying dull things and waiting to die, and there is very little tension until the last 30 minutes. It’s a low-budget clone of John Carpenter’s Halloween, and under most circumstances I wouldn’t be critical of indie filmmaking, but when such an unremarkable film produces a billion dollar franchise then I can only throw my hands up and shout my confusion into the void.
Killed the animal handler’s pet snake for a scene. Messed up
