For Their Own Good
The low ratings are misleading. In other films I've seen with poor ratings, the topic has often been political, suggesting that if one disagrees with the issue(s) of the film, they "dislike" the movie. Here, the acting & sets were good, neither a hallmark of a dud. The subject: the power that 500 men have over 25 women & what one of the life-changing consequences could be, not too unlike what many are predicting with the new U.S. federal administration starting 1/20/25, i.e., a group of men imposing their will/beliefs on women, but in the opposite way. The difference: in the real-life circumstances, women outnumber men, they haven't exerted their power. Another resemblance to a real-life prediction is eliminating safety measures, i.e., the power of big business. CCH Pounder ("The Shield") portrays a rebel among the womem. A mild love story and reveal.
