Austin Butler's portrayal of Elvis was widely praised, while Tom Hanks' performance was criticized as poor casting. Baz Luhrmann's extravagant style was appreciated, especially in the first half. Some felt the movie was a bit too long and criticized the use of modern music instead of highlighting the era's original tunes. Overall, it was considered a good biopic.
Austin Butler was incredible as Elvis. Tom Hanks gave us a truly cursed performance. Baz Luhrmann‘s over-the-top style really rocked my socks in the first half. Not much else to say - maybe a tinge long for me?
Good biopic 8.1/10
Butler was great as Elvis. Hanks was an unfortunate casting- truly terrible. They also could have highlighted the greatness of that generation’s music, but chose to interject it with music from the 2010’s/2020’s.
