Followed the book much more closely this time, in comparison to the original film, but we still can’t seem to figure out Wonka’s character. Johnny Depp gives a committed performance and it works sometimes but most of the time it does not fit here just right.
It’s good, but it just doesn’t have the same charm as the Gene Wilder version.
