"Battle of Britain" is praised for its technical effort and compelling story, blending historical fiction with real events. The cinematography, especially the in-air sequences, is highlighted as stunning and realistic, despite the lack of CGI. An all-star cast enhances this significant WWII film.
This might be the best WWII film ever made, in terms of technical effort and a compelling story. In many ways an historical fiction, it details very real historical incidents and even some conversations. ("Give me a squadron of Spitfires!")It is the cinematography that steals the show, however, as many of the in-air sequences are simply stunning, especially when factoring in the era in which this was filmed. There was no CGI and very few special effects. Yet, the action sequences are tangibly real and impactful. An all-star cast rounds out this opus on one of the most important chapters of the entire war. It stands the test of time all these years later.
