"Argylle" is a divisive film. Some found it fun, absurd, and entertaining with lots of laughs, while others criticized it for being overly silly, dragging in parts, and having poor CGI. The beginning was generally well-received, but many felt the ending became too ridiculous. The cast was appreciated, but some felt it was used to compensate for a weak script.
I mean… who doesn’t love smoke bombs dance fights?
The key with this film is to think and remember FUN. Yes, it's over the top in places, Yes, there are scenes that are just wild. GO with it. If you walk in expecting a James Bond type spy film, you will be disappointed. But if you settle in for the ride, I think you'll laugh and have a great time. The end of the adventure part (pre- denouement) does drag a bit but it's not enough to damage my enjoyment of the film. Also props to Howard for not compromising on radical body change for a role. It actually really worked well given the story line.
If I had seen it in the theater I would have walked out the moment she started “ice skating” on oil. Probably the dumbest movie I’ve seen in the past decade.
