The reviews criticize "Annie Hall" for Woody Allen's neurotic performance and Diane Keaton's overacting. While the script is praised for its excellence and humor, the film is seen as outdated and overrated. Some suggest it might have been better if Allen had only written and directed.
None of his movies are actually good. Besides him being a pedophile.
How the FUCK did this beat Star Wars for the Oscar? Woody Allen neurotically babbles through the whole movie and Diane Keaton overacts like crazy. She's never been good in anything I've seen her in. Although the script is excellent and there are some amusing parts (such as the Christopher Walken set-up scene and its payoff joke), the movie comes across as smug and out of date. It may have been a masterpiece in its time, but it's mediocre (at best) now. I might have enjoyed it better if Allen had simply written and directed without taking the lead role. As it stands, it’s a well-written but overrated rom-com that hasn’t exactly aged like fine wine. Watch some clips on YouTube, but don't feel bad if you skip the whole thing.
