Ratings & Reviews

Some music felt out of place and had abrupt, lazy fade-outs. The film is rich and complex, likened to a heavy meal that requires time to fully digest. It’s seen as an analogue for atomic weaponry creation and loss of control. Overall, it’s considered a masterpiece and warrants a rewatch.
Masterpiece
Some of the music felt out of place and strangely edited; Tracks would end abruptly with seemingly lazy fade-outs.Other than that element of the film specifically, I don’t have much else to say. Watching this was like eating too much of a really rich meal; You know you just had something great, but you’re gonna need to sleep it off before you fully digest everything. I get that Akira is functionally an analogue for the creation and subsequent loss of control of atomic weaponry, but that’s about as deep as my interpretation goes.Definitely warrants a rewatch.
