"1917" is praised for its powerful depiction of war's horrors and its immersive single-take technique, despite some noticeable cuts. The film's claustrophobic and panic-inducing sequences stand out. The performances and cinematography are excellent, enhancing realism and tension throughout.
Wow. Just a powerful movie. Not afraid to show the true horrors of war that these, emphasis on young, men went through.Mendes’s single take works incredibly well, although there are noticeable cuts the transitions are so smooth it doesn’t break the pacing. Two of the sequences are particularly haunting and stand out for their claustrophobia and panic inducing moments.By the end I felt like I was a part of this brutal, heartbreaking journey and I too, just wanted to go home.Great film, best war movie since Saving Private Ryan.
Breathtaking and masterful.
A movie with a different concept, because everything is done as if there were two long scenes in real time, which creates a huge state of immersion. The camera closely follows the actors during their journey, and at many moments the camera movement is reminiscent of war video games, reinforcing the immersion and provoking tension. The performances are excellent and the cinematography is incredible with environments full of detail, creating scenes where many things happen at the same time, giving a greater sense of realism.
