Comedies can sometimes feel a bit too cookie-cutter. Thankfully, we’re in a bit of a comedy renaissance right now. The TV landscape is littered with comedy that’s not just watchable, but is actually pretty darn good. Don’t get me wrong, there are still a few duds here and there, but for the most part, the field is ripe with hilarious choices.

Here are few of our favorite comedies that you can watch right now.

  1. Fresh off the Boat – Hulu

We’ve seen typical family sitcoms before, what makes Fresh off the Boat different is the cast and its characters: an immigrant family striving to make their American dream come true.

  1. Bojack Horseman – Netflix

The only animated show on this list, BoJack Horseman stars Will Arnett, Alison Brie, and Aaron Paul. BoJack is a humanoid horse, struggling with life after his hit show was canceled. It sounds ridiculous, and in many ways, maybe it is. But it’s also brilliant.

  1. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – Netflix

Kimmy Schmidt is not necessarily the new kid on the block here, but this show is always, always worth it. Starring Ellie Kemper and Titus Burgess, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will be ending next year with its fourth season.

  1. The Good Place – Netflix

Back for its third season this fall, The Good Place stars TV vets Ted Danson and Kristen Bell. A show built around the idea of creating a sitcom that deals with philosophical issues in each episode, The Good Place is far from your standard sitcom.

  1. Superstore – Hulu | NBC

This series about a group of big box store employees remains one of my current favorites. While Superstore has not been without its stumbling blocks, the show still manages to be unique and hilarious in every episode.

  1. Barry – HBO

This dark HBO comedy follows hit-man Barry Berkman as he manages to land himself in front of the cameras and begins his second career as an actor. The series pulled in 5 Emmy nominations and brought home the best actor and best supporting actor wins for stars Bill Hader and Henry Winkler, respectively.

  1. GLOW – Netflix

Alison Brie stars in GLOW, a Netflix series about the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, a series that ran in various formats and outlets from 1986 until 1992.

  1. Atlanta – Hulu

This dramedy which runs on FX was created by (and stars) Donald Glover. The show is about an up-and-coming rapper, Alfred Miles. The show just took home four Emmy wins and was nominated for four others.
